SLOW HORSES- the paint pot scene

SECOND UNIT DIRECTING- SLOW HORSES SEASON 5- THE PAINT POT SCENE…

This was such fun to plan and execute..the reel, the bucket, the rope and the paint pot were my ensemble cast on that day of Second Unit Directing and they worked together beautifully.

Wonderful to see it put together with the main unit sections with the cast. Smoke and Mirrors of filmmaking making this a particularly rewarding Second Unit day on Slow Horses Season 5.

SLOW HORSES- SECOND UNIT DIRECTING - LAST DAY

Last day of Second Unit Directing on Slow Horses Season 5. Loved working with Saul Metzstein, a wonderful mentor and collaborator, with guidance and trust, would do it again in a heartbeat. Unintentional matching uniform today.

SLOW HORSES- SECOND UNIT DIRECTING- PREPPING THE CRANE (EP 1) and DIRECTING DIALOGUE SCENE (Ep 3)

We thought it would be a drone but ended up doing a technocrane that day instead. Really pleased with this scene and this section so early in Ep 1, A great day working with the wonderful Ruth Bradley (who plays Emma Flyte), and directing a full dialogue scene from Episode 3 with Nick Mohammed (who plays mayor-hopeful Zafar Jaffrey) and Abraham Popoola (playing Jaffrey’s chief of staff, Tyson Bowman).

SLOW HORSES- SECOND UNIT DIRECTING - FIRST DAY

First day directing Second Unit for Slow Horses S5. Lucky to have the support and wisdom of Showrunner and Writer Will Smith on set with me this morning. Great start to this job.

Stand Still at BFI London Film Festival: "Isabella WIng-Davey's film feels tender and raw"

“The film that has the most complete narrative trajectory is Stand Still, about a woman overwhelmed with postnatal depression. Help comes to the middle-class doctor just at the right time, and what follows in Isabella Wing-Davey’s film feels tender and raw. Zoë Tapper and Michelle Bonnard, who also wrote the film, give extraordinarily compassionate performances here.

These six films are all confidently made, and if this is the future of British film then we are in good hands. Together these directors, and their creatives, should be able to represent a modern, inclusive Britain.”

STAND STILL - stories from set

It was important to me, when making this film, to live by my politics, about diversity and inclusion and access in the industry-even in a small way on a short film shoot. We made sure all HoD meetings included both men and women and we put together an amazingly talented team. And to tackle obstacles to professional access and opportunity, as well as empowering someone regarding the process, we decided on a Directing Mentee position too. As a female director, who came up with a lack of female mentors on the professional shoots I worked on when I started, I wanted to bring an aspiring young female director into the process and along for the ride. (Although shout out to my amazing mentors from film school at nyu grad film -where badass ladies abounded). Thrilled to say that mentee is @ellagracekennedy. A great addition to the team through prep and production, and next we'll be in post and then out into the world with this film! #womeninfilm #mentor #director #film #filmmaker @freethebid @cinesisterslondon #seeitbeit #womendirectors #filmfatales *** #Repost @ellagracekennedy with @make_repost ・・・ A director and her mentee🎬 ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ With the shooting of @standstillfilm wrapping yesterday, I want to say a special thank you to the director and my mentor @isabellawingdavey_ ! Having the opportunity to witness a director's process is an extremely personal and inspiring experience. I have learnt so much already and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to grow creatively myself with Isabella's guidance. I look forward to moving into post production and again witnessing Isabella's talents in the directors edit. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This film was written and performed so wonderfully by @michelle_bonnard and @zoetapperofficial and thanks to Isabella will now be visually beautiful, poignant and delivered in such a way that will pay justice to the important themes explored. True female filmmaking at its best!! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this incredible film✨⁣ ⁣ #standstillfilm

STAND STILL has it's BFI funding!

After a lengthy development process with the fine folks at Film London (Jo Cadoret, Matt Ajan and Angeli Macfarlane) we have been awarded short film production funds from BFI to go into production on STAND STILL (previously known as One in Five and/or Mother Load). We promise that’s the last name change!

Very excited to be going into production in May 2019.
